What Are Solar Energy Generating Systems? How to Classify Them?

1. The composition of solar energy generating systems


The solar energy generating systems are composed of solar battery packs, solar controllers, and storage batteries (group). An inverter is needed to make the output power of the solar energy system to be AC 220V or 110V.


2. Classification of solar energy generating systems


Solar energy generating systems are divided into off-grid energy generating systems, grid-connected energy generating systems and distributed energy generating systems.


(1) The off-grid generating systems are mainly composed of solar battery modules, controllers, and batteries. And an inverter is required if the output power is AC 220V or 110V.


(2) The grid-connected energy generating systems are the direct current generated by solar panels. After being converted by a grid-connected inverter into alternating current that meets the requirements of the mains power grid, it is directly connected to the public power grid.


Grid-connected solar energy generating systems have centralized large-scale grid-connected power stations, which are generally national-level power stations. The main feature is that the generated energy can be directly transmitted to the grid, and the grid is uniformly deployed to supply power to users.


However, it has a high investment, a long construction period and a largely occupied space. So, it has not developed much yet. Small distributed grid-connected solar energy generating systems, especially integrated photovoltaic building energy generating systems, are the mainstream of grid-connected energy generation. This is because of its advantages of small investment, fast construction, small footprint, and large policy support.


(3) Distributed energy generating system is also known as distributed energy generation or distributed energy supply. It can be equipped with a small photovoltaic power supply system at the user site or near the power site to meet the needs of specific users. It supports the economic operation of existing distribution networks or meets both requirements at the same time.


The basic equipment of distributed photovoltaic energy generating systems include photovoltaic cell components, photovoltaic square brackets, direct current combiner boxes, direct current power distribution cabinets, grid-connected inverters, alternating current power distribution cabinets and other equipment. In addition, they also have supply system monitoring devices and environmental monitoring devices.


Under the condition of solar radiation, the solar cell module array of photovoltaic solar electric generating systems will convert the output electric energy from the solar energy and send it to the direct current power distribution cabinet through the direct current combiner box. The grid-connected inverter converts into alternating current to supply the building's demand, and the excess or insufficient power is adjusted by connecting to the power grid.
